It's been awhile since I've done a purely imaginative painting. I actually had started this one back in 2008, so I decided to tighten it up a bit and post it. I have a few more in the works that I hope to finish and post soon as well.
Nothing to say about lighting of course , and i love the dragon's expression , i am trying to adopt your style ( still beginner ) but i would like to know what brush you use to blend colors cause when i use the standard soft brush i lose all my details :s ( and sorry for my english )
Another little question : Do you recommend to use Bevel & Emboss on details to work faster ?
I use Corel Painter 11 for most of my painting and the brush I used for blending is the ArtsOils/WetOilyPaletteKnife. It blends colors like oil paint and is far superior to Photoshops smudge tool that only pushes pixels instead of blending them. I hope this helps.
As for the Bevel and Emboss..... no... I don't use it for painting as it's too limited of a look. It's good for text and simple things, but it does not accurately convey what real light does in my opinion.
That would be amusing to watch to see how everything turns out, that face just says, "Go ahead, I dare you, I double dog dare you..." But yes! I love not only the characters but the background to the right it looks so awesome.
