Another 3D set made in Maya for the Elevate kids series. It's supposed to be very colorful and playful. This one took about 12 hours to complete (modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering).

On a technical side for those of you Maya users who might ask...
*Mental Ray standard renderer (no Final gathering or global illumination, just the standard mental ray)
*22 lights
*100% procedural shading (no texture maps)
*100% nurbs on this one (though I do use sub-d's and polygons on other stuff sometimes too)
*renders in 20 minutes at full resolution (2800x1080)

Nice all procedural! How did you do the motifs on the screens?

I was thinking the same as feawen, the screens boggle my mind! Also I dont have much experience with nurbs texturing, I did it once for a school project and it was a nightmare. You should put up some process stuff, people would love that I'm sure. Beautiful environment anyway, very cute!

thanks! I got the screens and the floor texture using a ramp and a a grid node and then played with placement settings (slightly rotate the UV's).

Ha! Yes, Maya can be elusive but once tamed it performs beautifully. For the floor and screens I used a ramp and a grid node and then played with the 2D placement node to warp/rotate the UV's ever so slightly to create that fractal feel. There are so many great tricks and tips... if I only had time to share them somehow. :)
