Cairo Paris and London

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 14, 2008, 1:07 PM
Wow, I sure am terrible about updating my journals here. Anyway, here we are. It's April already.

I'm working away on tons of different projects. I've been doing a lot of illustration but some animation work too. I'm finishing up some motion graphics for a commercial which is fun and starting work on an opening for a TV show. Working from home has been great. I miss my friends at Pixar (I left in October to move back to the east coast to be closer to family again) but I really don't miss the work very much at all. I liked working on big films, but my part was so small and technical it's nice to be doing pure creative work once again.

In other news I'm doing some traveling in the near future. I'm off to Cairo in a couple of weeks to visit some friends and do some consulting at a studio there. And then in June I'm off to speak at the Game Developer's Conference in Paris ( [link] ). Let me know if any of you are in that section of the world and plan on attending. I'll be giving 2 talks, one short one and then a longer master class on lighting for film. I might get to go to London too to consult with a client there, so that would be great. Ah... travel... it's so nice to be free to do it again.

Oh.. and I updated my personal webpage too. It's kind of slow, but it get's the job done. Now with a demo reel too. Ooooh!

Until next time!

Wow! All that travelling sounds exciting! Good luck, and don't get jet lag! XD

It's great to hear about (and see!) all your creative new work. I hope you get to keep in touch with old friends too. :)

Also, holy wow, I LOVE your new website! The new design looks absolutely fantastic. Your site definitely hooked me into your art (I had a great time exploring all your works). This one definitely has the same brilliance while being terrifically organized and so invitingly click-able now too!

I had a great time watching the demo reel as well - nice sneak peek of Wall-E! ;)

oh Paris! if you haven't been there yet, you'll love it. One day i hope to return, there's just so much to see and the people there remind me a lot of NB, very warm and inviting people :)

Aw, man, London.

If you ever get a chance while you're in England, try visiting the Fenwick Arms in Lancashire. Apparently, the food is ridiculously good. I don't know if it's still around, but I saw it on an episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America, and from what I've seen, they've really turned the joint around.

thanks! I think jet lag is almost certain, but worth it.

Yup, I do keep i touch with lots of old friends. It's amazing to see where everyone goes. I think I know people at pretty much every major film studio now, which is cool.

And thanks for the feedback on my website. I appreciate it!
